Mother’s Day Printable – Believe in God and Yourself

Believe in God and Yourself

I was recently looking for a quote about mothers when I came across this quote from Elder Jeffrey R. Holland from the October 2015 General Conference.

“To all mothers in every circumstance, including those who struggle—and all will—I say, “Be peaceful. Believe in God and yourself. You are doing better than you think you are.”
believe in god and yourselfJeffrey R, Holland quote

You’re Doing Better Than You Think You Are

This quote – these words of encouragement – was exactly what I needed to hear in that moment.

And I knew right away I wanted to make a printable of this.

Not only for me – but for you.

And for all the women in your life.

So – share away!

Because life can be hard sometimes.

And no matter what stage of life we’re in – mothers or not – our challenges can get us down. So these words of encouragement are for YOU.

Because God knows you.

He wants you to trust in Him

Believe in Him.

And believe in yourself.

He wants you to know you are doing good…

… even better than you think you are.

Resurrection Rolls Gift Kit

Resurrection Rolls Gift Kit

Resurrection Rolls

One of our favorite family traditions at Easter time is to make Resurrection rolls (AKA Empty Tomb rolls or Easter Buns.)

If you’ve never made them before, it’s so fun! Basically, you wrap a butter and cinnamon-covered marshmallow in a crescent roll. When you cook it, the marshmallow magically disappears, creating an “empty tomb.”

The best part, though, is the Easter story that goes along with each step and process of making the rolls. I love that it is a fun way to remember Christ and the reason we celebrate Easter.

Easter Gift – Resurrection Rolls Kit

This kit is a great way to SHARE this fun Easter tradition with someone else! Sharing these rolls allows you to spread a little bit of the JOY of Easter – with a focus on Christ and the resurrection.

The printable pages include all the tags and directions you need. Put them all together into a bag, box, or basket and present it to someone special.

To make your kit, you will need:

  • A bag, box, basket, or something to put the ingredients in
  • 1 tube roll of crescent rolls
  • 8 marshmallows
  • 2 Tbs butter (I found some small butter sticks that were perfect for adding to the package)
  • 3 Tbs sugar
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • printable tags

Putting Your Kit Together

Once you have all your ingredients, you’re ready to put your kit together!

  1. Print and cut out tags (cardstock works best for the smaller tags. Plain paper works best for tag #3, which will be wrapped around the crescent rolls.)
  2. Place 8 (or more!) marshmallows in a small bag and tie tag #1 around it.
  3. Mix together 3 TBSP of sugar and 1/2 tsp cinnamon in a small Ziploc bag. Tie tag #2 around this bag and 2 TBSP (or a small stick) of butter.
  4. For the crescent rolls, use tape to stick the pink (not flowered) end to the rolls, then wrap around and use double-sided tape or a glue stick to attach the flowers. This folds around the tube of rolls easiest if it is printed on paper (not cardstock.)
  5. Attach the “Resurrection Rolls” tag to a bag or box with a glue stick or double-sided tape. Or you can tie it to a bag or basket with a ribbon or twine.
  6. Place all the ingredients, along with tag # 4 into the bag.

* If preferred, simply place all items into the bag with the recipe card, instead of attaching tags to each individual item.

Who can you share these with?

  • your family
  • your neighbors
  • your ministering sisters
  • your friends …
  • anyone who could use a reminder of the reason we celebrate Easter!

So, print out these little tags, gather up all your ingredients, and having fun putting together and sharing this Easter tradition!

You can use these as a gift, or make it into a game of family fun. Here are some ways you can use these cute printable I Love you Because strips:

  • Put all the family members’ names in a hat and have everyone pull one out. They can each fill out their strip with things they love about that person. Share them with everyone, or simply give them to each other.
  • Everyone loves mail! Fill them out with all the things you love about Grandma and Grandpa. Stick them in the mail and send them to the Grandparents. (If they live far away, be sure to include photos!)
  • Have everyone sit in a circle, take a card and write their name at the top. Then, have everyone pass the card to the person on the left. Each person looks at the name at the top of the card and writes something they love about that person. Keep passing the cards until they’ve been all the way around. You could do this game as a family, a Young Women’s group, a Primary class, or any other group of people that could benefit from stronger connection.
  • Write down the things you love about your ministering sisters. (Or a best friend, spouse, child, or sibling!) Then, add a homemade treat or other favorite good and drop them off!
  • Use them for a Family Home Evening activity with a lesson about showing love! (And then finish up with making some heart shaped cookies for a treat!)
  • Fill them out for your kids and leave them in fun places they can find them – their backpack, a lunchbox, on the bathroom mirror, in a drawer, or tucked into their favorite book.
  • Post one for each family member on the fridge and everyone can add something to each one throughout the week.

Any way that you use these cute little I Love You Because Valentine’s strips, they are sure to make someone feel loved.

6 Ways to Minister From a Distance

6 Ways to Minister From a Distance

These are crazy times, right? We’re working from home. Shopping from home. Schooling from home. And even churching from home. We probably haven’t spent so much collective time in our homes in quite a while.

Along with all the other things we’ve been doing from home, most of us probably now need to minister from home. We may not be able to get out and make a social visit, but that doesn’t mean that we don’t need to minster right now. In fact, we probably need to minister now more than ever before. It simply means we have to find ways to minister differently than we are used to. And it can be fun!

Here are 6 simple ways that you can minister to and be closer to your sisters while still keeping your distance.

Send a Card –

Opening your mailbox to find an actual card or letter (something other than bills and flyers!) can immediately brighten a day.

  • Find some printable cards online to print out and send
  • Simply write out a note of encouragement or your favorite things about her
  • Copy your favorite quote or scripture
  • Send an uplifting photo that you know she will love
  • It doesn’t have to be fancy. Just the little surprise of opening her mailbox to find something fun is sure to make her smile

Set up a Virtual Visit –

One of the things I’m most grateful for at this quarantine time is technology! With FaceTime, Zoom, Hangouts and all the other amazing apps out there, we can easily stay connected. Set up a time to “visit” your sister and then enjoy a chat together.

  • Think of some “getting to know you” questions you can discuss together
  • Plan a short message, or just chat about how things are going for her and her family
  • Share ideas about how she can be sure to take care of herself in unsettling times
  • Find some online resources for her children’s ages to share with her
  • Read scriptures or a Conference talk together
  • Offer to help her children with their homework

Text a Little Thought –

Keeping in touch via text is something that takes just minutes to do.

  • Google your favorite talk from last Conference, a favorite scripture or quote and you’re sure to come up with some really cute and inspiring images. Attach your favorite one to a text and send it her way
  • Find an inspiring meme or photo that relates to her interests
  • Simply text a little “How are you doing?” to check in on her
  • Ask her needs and do what you can to help her address any issues she may be having

Make a Grocery Run For Her –

Braving the stores or the line at Costco? Be sure to ask her if there’s anything you can pick up for her while you’re out! Grouping together on shopping trips will help lessen the number of people in the stores and she’ll love skipping the crazy lines. And even if she doesn’t need anything, I promise it won’t hurt to pick up a little something you know she’d love.

Drop Off a Treat –

Staying 6 feet away doesn’t mean you can’t leave a treat on her doorstep!

  • Make some cookies or brownies to deliver. Or a fresh loaf of homemade bread (have the kids help you to keep them busy as well!)
  • Buy or pick some flowers to take to her
  • Leave some extra groceries or pantry staples for her
  • Make a “dinner kit” with things she could put together for a quick and easy dinner

Pray for Her and Her Family –

One of the simplest and most effective ways to minister is to pray. And we can do that anytime and from ANYWHERE. No one knows your sisters and their needs better than our Heavenly Father. Ask Him what she needs and how you can help her.

  • Pray about how you can bring her light during these times.
  • How can you help her feel more peace?
  • In what ways can you bring her relief?
  • Pray to know what she needs. And then ACT on the promptings you feel.

Through these uncertain times, even the smallest act of reaching out like the Savior can show your ministering sisters you care about them. And serving as the Savior would will help YOU feel more peace as well.
