A Christ-centered Christmas

It’s that time of year when the air is filled with the excitement of the Christmas season. The sights, the sounds, the smells. They all bring an air of anticipation and togetherness. In a world where the season often loses the focus of the true meaning we celebrate, it’s  increasingly important that we put a significance on a Christ-centered Christmas.

Today, I’m sharing some favorite Christ-centered Christmas traditions to help you keep the focus on Him this season.

As you do kind deeds each day, add straw to the manger to build a soft bed for Baby Jesus. Fill up the manger as the season goes on and then place Baby Jesus on His soft bed. I love that this encourages serving!

The beautiful artwork on this advent makes it so exciting to turn over a new card each day and the scripture references beautifully tell the Christmas story.

The Little Lamb from Bethlehem is another great way to encourage service! It’s so cute and a perfect alternate to the Elf, if you’re wanting something that focuses on Christ instead.

Christ-centered Christmas Activities

Here are some fun printable Christmas activities that keep the focus on Christ. My kids LOVE “Don’t Eat Pete” and this Christmas version is so fun. And our gifts to Jesus has been a long-standing tradition that is my very favorite!

Christ-centered Christmas Books

Christmas books are one of my favorite Christmas traditions! There’s just something magical about cuddling up by the warm fire on a cold night and reading together.

Here are some of my favorite Christmas books:

When we pulled out our Christmas books this year, I Believe in Santa Claus  was the first one my son chose to read. Through beautiful illustrations and simple words, discover how Santa represents Jesus Christ with this sweet Christmas story.

President Monson was a master storyteller and I remember his story of The Christmas Train when he shared it long before it became a book. It’s been one of my favorite Christmas stories ever since.

In The Light of Christmas, we get to join Alexander on his journey as he seeks to find the true gift of Christmas and in The Giving Chest, Maggie is on a journey of her own. These are both my favorite books that show how the true Spirit of Christmas can shine from within.

And for the younger ones, Christmas in a Manger will keep them smiling as this rhyming book tells the story of the first Christmas.
