Sometimes in all the excitement of the Easter season, it can be a challenge to remember the real reason we celebrate Easter. There’s candy, bunnies, eggs and treats. While all these things are fun, it requires an intentional effort to create an Easter that focuses more on Christ and the true meaning that we celebrate at Easter.

One simple way to focus on the true meaning of Easter is with this beautiful Names of Christ Easter advent banner. This banner displays 7 (of the many) names of Christ and makes a fun and spiritual “Week of Easter” activity.  As an advent type activity, that gets added to each day, it can help create a more Christ-centered Easter in your home.

Did you know there are over 100 names Christ is called by in the scriptures? Each of these names represents something about Christ. They tell us who He is, what He did for us, or an attribute that He has. Because we are studying the Book of Mormon this year, I selected scriptures from there. I have loved studying the different names and the meanings behind each name. Really thinking about what each name means and pondering about WHY that name was used to describe Christ has really helped me feel I have a better understanding Christ and His purpose.

NAMES OF CHRIST EASTER BANNER

Each tag on this banner lists one of the names of Christ. The coordinating printable name cards that are included have a short devotional for each day. Each card has a scripture to look up and read. These scriptures present the name of Christ. There is also a quote or thought to go along with that name. Some days have a short discussion question, song or activity idea that you could do along with the reading to help emphasize the name’s meaning and purpose.

Here are some different ways you could use this banner to help your home be a more Christ -centered place this Easter:

  • Tie up all the names to display and then each day remove one. Read the scripture that connects with that name and then read the quote or do the activity. You could continue to remove them each day, until they are gone, or you could do the activity and return the tag back to the banner once you’ve finished with it.
  • Put up the string and then each day, select a name to add to the banner. By Easter, at the end of the week, you will have a banner full of the names of Christ.
  • Punch holes in the tags and tie them up with sting, or simply use a mini clothespin to attach each tag to the twine.
  • Choose just one activity, quote or scripture to read/do each day, or do all of them. You could choose to do the scripture as a morning devotional, then come back to it in the evening to do the discussion and other activities.

Do whatever works best for your family! Choose to do all of the listed readings and activities, do a couple of them, or just choose just one short thing to focus on each day. However you choose to do it, I hope that this little activity is one that will help you have a more Christ-focused Easter this year.
